A.L.I.E.N.S.

Any other
Life
In the
Endless
Nether regions of
Space

I wonder what is out there in the vastness of space,
Is there a little green or grey alien race.
Or perhaps they're tall with suits of silver,
With breathing apparatus and oval eyes full of wonder.
Have they waved at the Moon out yonder?
Stopped on Mars and smiled at Rover!
And have they seen the ISS pass over?
Do they like our blue jewel?
Are they coming here to refuel?
Attracted to our oceans deep,
Do they say hi to the Dolphins with clicks and beeps.
Sailors have seen them for years from their decks
Leaving them to murmur  "what are these objects".
Cigars, Triangles, strange lights and Silver Discs
Performing outrageous manoeuvres of aerobatic dives and flips,
Showing up on radars as strange blips,
Teasing our squadrons of planes and fleets of ships.
Our Pilots are nervous of losing control,
When their planes are buzzed by UFOs,
The occupants are curious to know -
What we look like? and do we glow?
People ridiculed for saying they've been abducted
By the occupants of an Unidentified Flying Object
"You've been at the booze again, mate".
"No No, I swear they took me, I lost time and got home late".
I wonder what they make of us,
When they watch us queue for a bus!
What do they make of us Earthlings who make up this Human Race?
Are they impressed to find we've just made it into Space?
Are we impressive enough,
To the little grey or green Aliens who are far more advanced than us.

I look up and I wonder.
