What a jewel Wales has in its crown,
In Pembrokeshire, a harbour, an island, a beach - Tenby Town,
Like an artist's pallet or a diamond's facets,
The houses are all kaleidoscopically graphic,
Cream, yellow, pink, blue,
Indeed, colours of every possible hue,
What a breath-taking view.
This is Dinbych-y-Pysgod - 'Little Town of the Fishes',
The catch of the day is sold daily to fill our little dishes,
So at the Fisherman's Church, a short walk away,
We can all kneel and pray for full nets to keep hunger at bay.
Goskar Rock stands proud upon North Beach,
Climb it if you must, it has sharpness, so watch your feet.
Down on the shore, an artist stands,
Canvas on easel, brush in hand,
She starts to paint with purpose,
Portraying the light upon the sea's surface,
A breaking wave, a seascape,
What a skill, what an escape.
There are many who come here to be inspired,
Writers; Artists; Film-Makers - their work is admired.
And take in the beauty of Caldey Island from this vantage point.
Golden sands, farm, lighthouse, village and Monastery.
This small island is perfect for reflecting in Solitary.
The Cistercian Monks are farmers and Hi-Tech - they're on the net!
Their perfumes and chocolates keep them out of debt.
You're welcome to visit this island retreat,
But I do hope you're the quiet sort and come away feeling complete.
A walled town with its 13th century Norman tower and
Prince Albert standing imposingly above the boat-filled harbour.
Narrow cobbled streets, bustling in every way,
Worldwide visitors flock here every day.
You're very welcome to visit,
I promise you, it's quite exquisite.
What jewels. This Tenby town, this harbour, this island, these beaches.
Magnifique.
